First-week losses are usually management rather than disease: a brooder that was too cold or too hot, chicks that never found the water, draughts, piling and smothering, or drowning in an unsuitable drinker. Check the temperature at chick level and watch how the birds spread out. If deaths continue past the first week, get a proper diagnosis.
