Coccidiosis is a gut parasite that thrives in warm damp litter and shows up as slow growth, huddled miserable birds and sometimes blood in the droppings. Most commercial starter feeds include a coccidiostat to control it. Wet patches under drinkers are where it starts, so keeping litter dry is half the battle.
