A cleaned and disinfected brooding space, a working heat source switched on hours beforehand, fresh dry bedding, drinkers filled with clean water, and starter feed. Warm the brooder before the chicks arrive, never after. Cold chicks huddle, stop eating and drinking, and you lose ground you cannot make back.
