Gas brooders are the usual answer and are worth the investment if you intend to keep going. Paraffin and charcoal are widely used but demand real care, because both consume oxygen and give off carbon monoxide, so the house must be ventilated even while you are trying to keep it warm. Never seal a brooding house to hold heat in with a burning fuel inside.
