Enough that no chick has to queue or walk far to reach one. As a rule of thumb, plan several small drinkers and feeders per hundred birds spread evenly around the heat source, and increase the number as the birds grow. Feeders and drinkers grouped in one spot leave the birds at the edges underfed.
