Withhold water briefly beforehand so the birds drink readily, use clean water free of chlorine or disinfectant which destroys the vaccine, mix only what will be drunk within a couple of hours, and keep the vaccine cool and out of sunlight until it is used. Most vaccine failures on smallholdings come from chlorinated water or a dose left standing in the sun.
