Not from commercial hybrids. Broilers and commercial layers are crosses, and their offspring do not come out like the parents, so hatching from them gives inconsistent, disappointing birds. Indigenous and composite breeds such as Boschveld or Koekoek do breed true enough for smallholders to reproduce their own flock.
